i bought this broken ibook for like $20 and i was tinkering with it when i noticed that the main idle chip was not on properly and would only run when the heat sink was pushed. so i broke off the flimsy bolt like thing and put a real bolt in the heat sink and tightened it till the heat sync was touching the motherboard. then i put a small screw in the far end of the heat sync and supported it by putting 2 long screws in the bottom to squeze the processor back to the board
then it came to life!!!

(ps this wont fix the pram problem in some ibooks)

UPDATE: the computer died on october 14:( so if you want to but it is for sale on usedvictoria.com
UPDATE; i recently used this ibook for my project the ITABLET but the itablet died so i destroyed it, so dismantled in a box last weekend i was board so i put it back together and it worked!!! so my fix does work but is not a 100% success rate more like 50/50
UPDATE: the computer overheated and died yesterday so it is no longer with us:(
