I am headed off to school in a couple of months and the school uses apple computers. I really don't want to put out the money for a new apple computer.. so that is why I was looking at claim shell ibook. I know it will be cheaper. However I don't know if it will allow me to install a cd burner in it. I also want to know how much it will cost me to 1. put a cd burner in it (if I can do so) 2. how much would it cost to update so of the programs-like putting on microsoft word, powerpoint, excel. the big picture is I don't want it to cost me a fortune… and should have ended buying a new one. If you have an idea of another apple computer that would be cheap and would allow me to burn cds, have the microsoft programs, and be able to hold pictures on it , let me know please. I open to all suggestions. Thanks..TR

without knowing your computers capacity, i suggest you consider an external hard drive. it will give you more flexibility and capacity. you can burn cds dvds etc. store your programs in case of computer failure.
