I just bought a gently used ibook g3 800 MHZ with a airport card. Can I just use wifi for internet access or do I need a account with a ISP? I spend a hour or so a day with friends at a internet hot spot that offers wifi. Thanks in advance!
Well, at some level somewhere you'll need to deal with an ISP, but if you already have Broadband Internet access into your home (DSL or Cable) then you can use a Wireless Access Point or Wireless Broadband Router to allow you to use Wi-Fi between your DSL or Cable modem and your computer. If you don't already have Broadband, then you'll have to sign up for that first, and then you can use a wireless networking setup to access it from your laptop.
