    Yeah, but that …
Yeah, but that thing’s a monster, the battery is like half the size of the rest of the computer. 8 hours on a 17″ is quite a lot, Samsung has a notebook with a 10 hour battery life (like, an internal battery, not a huge cell stuck to the bottom) but it’s on a 13″ ultra-portable, so it saves power because of the smaller screen and a 1.2Ghz or 1.6Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.

Only thing that bugs me about the new 17″ MBP is that all of Apple’s cuts for efficiency is starting to cut into display quality.

    8 hour battery life …
8 hour battery life on a 17″ notebook, possibly the least practical ‘innovation’ Apple has ever made. Oh no, wait, that one goes to Genius Playlists.

    What does Windows …
What does Windows have to do with hardware specs? And Lenovo also has 17″ notebooks that use Intel Core Extreme processors (meaning 4 core, not 2 like intel core 2 duo this thing has), meaning it’s heavier on battery life, but that’s another thing. Where the are you going to go where you’re going to bring a 17″ notebook with you and also not bring a battery charger? Except for the 17″ notebooks, Lenovo has Apple beat for battery life, so does Samsung (of whom makes the best laptops ever).

    They are cool, …
They are cool, green and look great. What more could you ask for, except perhaps a slash in prices. Especialy over here in the UK.

Its called Alienware dude. Don’t get me wrong, I love Mac computers, but not all PCs that run windows are bad.

    that’s good. and …
that’s good. and all these people complaining about the battery being harder to replace, please, they’ll just have a new one out by then that you’ll want.

    So it is.

    But, …
    So it is.

But, unless you have AppleCare, by the time the battery goes south, the warranty for the laptop will have expired.

This means that do-it-yourself kits could be made available.

I must admit I am not liking this trend that Apple is taking.

    With this one you …
With this one you actually cant take out the battery. The reason it lasts so long is because of that. They took out all of the structures that make the batteries easily replaceable so there would be more room for a bigger battery.

    I believe you’re …
I believe you’re referencing the MacBook Air, which has an internal battery that must be replaced by Apple should it go bad.

The regular MacBook and the MacBook Pro, on the other hand, have user-accessible and user-replaceable batteries; just buy a new battery and put it in yourself like any other notebook.

This is also why I wouldn’t buy the MacBook Air myself.

    No, Windows systems …
No, Windows systems can use 4 GB of RAM or more so long as you’re running a 64-bit version of Windows.

The 3 GB limit is for 32-bit Windows.

Now, I’m not saying Windows is better than Mac or anything, but just making a clarification.

FYI, I use XP and OS X and I’ve been finding myself using OS X more.

    Apple just …
Apple just destroyed the competition with this.

Acessable Hard Drive, 2.93Ghz Intel Core two Due, 8GB of RAM… theres no way windows based developers can compete with this, especially since Windows cants even use 4GB of Ram!

I like how other notebooks u can pull the battery out and macbooks you have to send it in so they can crack it open and put in a new one of course with labor fees Added to the original new battery price.
