It handles COD4 and the new Tomb Raider: Anniversaries incredibly, so long as the anti-aliasing is off ;)

    It all depends on …
It all depends on what you need in a notebook. Comparing the two, the MacBook Pro has a light-up but awkward keyboard and a larger hard drive. The memory in the old MacBook Pro is slower than the DDR3 in the new MacBooks.

    Yeh, well I learned …
Yeh, well I learned you can use the new trackpad in the same way, just click the pad at the bottom and move your other finger else where, because it’s multi-touch it realizes you’re moving the cursor AND clicking, even though both fingers are on the touch-surface.

Yea I know of that …
Yea I know of that feature, but I don’t like it because sometimes when I’m typing I accidently brush the trackpad and it moves the pointer to somewhere else in the document, and I start typing in the middle of something else. That’s why I turn that off, I need that click button :O

    Apple should …
Apple should improve the bootcamp software though, and that’s how they can fix it. And yea, Windows sucks in that area because theres so many PCs out there that it just can’t come with all the drivers built in, it’d be like some 50GB operating system or more.

    Nope, I enabled ” …
Nope, I enabled “Drag Lock.” It’s an excellent feature, just double tap, leaving your finger ON the pad on the second tap, then you can drag it anywhere and let go as many times as you want, then to drop the item, tap once more.

Yes, the older trackpads have this option.

    Actually, …
Actually, controllers is a SOFTWARE issue, nothing Apple can do about that. It’s because Windows has no idea what hardware it is running on and has a spaz out.

I had the same problem when I installed Kubuntu on a Dell Satellite laptop.

    Your right, but I …
Your right, but I can’t say it’s a huge bonus because the multi touch isn’t an incredible difference, and I think that the MacBook Air’s trackpad is more stable because it has a physical button. On the new ones, I find that i sometimes mess up when dragging things, and sometimes I actually miss buttons. Have you ever experienced those problems?

    Yea well, finding a …
Yea well, finding a fan controller isn’t something Apple should make us do if they want their reliability statement to hold. A lot of switchers will probably install Windows and fry their balls off in the process, and then complain about it. And one of my old teachers still uses a PowerMac G3, looks so much better than those new Dells that the school acquired.

You need to find a …
You need to find a Fan controller to download, that’s the problem. Anybody who’s used Windows on their mac will notice it overheats, unless their using VMWare Fusion or such.

    Macs are PC’s.

And yes, with Apple not offering a budget model, it makes it hard for them to get a foot hold. I just went shopping around for an old Mac, because, as you know, they sure can out last other PC’s. I found 3 eMacs for no less than $150, and they’re about 6-8 years old.

    THIS is the point …
THIS is the point I’m trying to make, most people prefer the multi-touch trackpad, for people who travel, such as myself, it’s a HUGE bonus, as I often can’t bring a mouse along.

    Well Windows isn’t …
Well Windows isn’t optimized for Macs either, so what’s the point of running it on a Mac? It’s really frustrating for me actually, because I really wanted to play some games on windows on my Mac, but it just keeps overheating so I deleted it. I wish Apple would make a Mac MiniTower that wasn’t so powerful like the Mac Pro. Us mac users have wanted that for years, and it’s the one thing that PC users can argue for.

I went to the Apple …
I went to the Apple Store to look at the new MacBooks/MacBook Pros, and I got used to using the trackpad on that. I really liked the smoothness and the size. And I get home and see my MacBook Pro, and the trackpad just felt so small. So that’s why it took a long time to move back to using that, compared to how quickly I got used to the new one.

    You’re not getting …
You’re not getting my point, sure your Dell can run OSX but what’s the point if it’s not optimized for it?

Transitioning back? How do you mean?

    I hate bloatware, …
I hate bloatware, it’s mad annoying, which is why I always delete that stuff. PCs aren’t optimized for OS X, and neither are Macs optimized for Windows. If you’ve installed Windows on your Mac, you’d know that a Mac heats up like crazy when in Windows, and on the Mac side, it’s nice and cool. Windows isn’t optimized for Macs, and it seems that bootcamp hasn’t been tweaked for better thermal cooling while in Windows.

    1. ‘Nix based OS’ …
    1. ‘Nix based OS’ are far more powerful and utilize their hardware’s potential greater than any marketed OS’.

    2. Mac PC’s are more reliable and just tend to work smoother.

    3. The one point you CAN argue, is which you LIKE! Sure a McLaren F1 can beat the pants off a ‘57 Bel-Air, but there are people who wouldn’t trade their Chevy for the world, just because the McLaren is “better” doesn’t mean everyone wants it, it is opinion.

    I’m actually living …
I’m actually living with my MBP with is from late 2007, has a scrolling trackpad, doesn’t have the multi touch. And I don’t use my mouse while traveling either. It’s too troublesome to carry around considering i might lose it. I can’t say I prefer the old trackpad, but it’s not a big deal. Although I can say that after getting used to the new one at the apple store, I wasn’t used to it when I got home. Took a bit of time transitioning back :P
